We offer one-to-one support to Afro Innovation members to find solutions to the problems affecting their daily lives. We do not have an appointment system so to access our services you can drop in from Monday to Thursday between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

Our advocacy services are provided by two staff members and a group of exceptionally able volunteers. It is funded by the Big Lottery ‘Reaching Communities’ Programme

We help people and a way forward:

  • Finding a solicitor
  • Local information on GP surgeries, emergency food parcels, emergency grants, courts, etc.
  • Prevention work: Skills for life, advocacy to local authorities
  • Signposting or referring to other organisations
We provide employment support:
  • Personalised action plans
  • Help with CVs, cover letters, and job applications
  • Advice with employment problems
  • Free use of the internet for job search
We are part of the local community:
  • Befriending service for socially isolated people in need of social interaction
  • Recreational events and activities
We make a difference:
  • 80% of people who see us have their problem solved
  • 3 out of 4 people who receive employment support and a job or training within 3 months
  • We benefit individuals through benefits gained, debts managed, and employment problems addressed.
