The BASE Project provides help and advice to asylum seekers and refugees who wish to access university education. Our project supports you to and appropriate training and education opportunities.

  • Help with living in a UCAS application
  • Advice and support in finding training that’s right for you
  • Information about routes into a UK university
  • Support to and and apply for scholarship, finance, or grants
  • Help with CVs and personal statements/proposals
  • Work experience opportunities
If you are already studying, we can help by:
  • Free language editing for your essays (please send your work 1-2 weeks in advance)
  • Free use of computers and the internet for educational purposes

Afro Innovation understand the barriers that refugee and asylum seeker students face in trying to access education. Issues like housing, access to welfare benefits, debt, and social isolation can present obstacles in progressing with your education. We are here to help people address these issues. Our BASE Project users also benefit from practical support in the following areas:

  • Help with accessing essential public services and systems
  • Housing support
  • Help with welfare benefits applications
  • Befriending service for socially isolated people in need of social interaction.
