Afro Innovation Group is a registered charity working across the city of Leicester and Leicestershire County since 2008. We work mainly with migrants, refugees, EEA immigrants, asylum seekers as well as supporting members of BAME communities and those from lower income families of Leicester.
Our aim is to empower our beneficiaries so they can access essential services in the UK, move into sustainable housing and employment, and become an integral part of Leicester’s thriving multicultural community.
The mission of Afro Innovation is to be recognised as one of the best providers of support to refugees, asylum seekers, and disadvantaged migrants in the East Midlands and as a strong contributor to the aspiration of Leicester to drive out inequalities in the cities.
Our vision is to increase public empathy for refugees, asylum seekers, and migrant protection matters in the East Midlands, exert positive influence on local authorities and public attitudes in support of the fair treatment of refugees, and deliver a range of advice, advocacy and support services that have a positive impact on the lives of our beneficiaries and that build on our role as a provider of genuinely holistic services.
My internship was placed with De Montfort University, I genuinely loved doing my placement with Afro Innovation, and it’s an amazing organisation.
I definitely believe Afro Innovation helped me develop valuable skills for my job. It helped develop my confidence and social skills within a fast paced environment.
