This year, Mental Health Awareness Week runs from 12 to 18 May 2025, with the theme 'Community'. At Afro Innovation Group (AIG), we recognise that strong, supportive communities are essential for mental well-being. Our work is deeply rooted in fostering connections that help individuals feel seen, heard and valued.

Why Community Matters
Being part of a community provides a sense of belonging, safety and support during challenging times. Communities can offer purpose and reduce feelings of isolation, which are crucial for mental health. This aligns with the Mental Health Foundation's emphasis on the importance of community in promoting mental well-being.
Our Commitment to Mental Health
At AIG, we are dedicated to supporting the mental health of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants through:
Culturally sensitive counselling
Befriending and peer support programmes
Advocacy for equitable access to health services
Community events that foster connection and understanding
We believe that by building strong communities, we can create environments where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
