Advice, Casework & Crisis Support

BASE+ Project

BASE+ is our core programme and primary point of access, providing practical advice, advocacy and person-centred casework to help people overcome urgent barriers and move towards stability and opportunity. It supports refugees, asylum seekers, migrants and wider BAME communities across Leicester and Leicestershire.

What we deliver

  • Drop-in advice and triage for urgent needs, delivered from our Leicester centre, with referrals and follow-up support.

  • One-to-one casework across housing, welfare, immigration-related signposting, employment preparation, safeguarding and crisis response.

  • Outreach advice clinics and hub-based support (including county outreach and partner-led access points) to improve reach and reduce barriers.

  • Group support sessions, including employability groups and peer support spaces to reduce isolation and build confidence.

Who it is for

People facing acute barriers such as: housing insecurity, destitution risk, benefit problems, language barriers, digital exclusion, employment barriers, and fear of statutory systems due to prior harm.

Key Outcomes

  • Reduced isolation through connection to AIG, peers and partner services.

  • Increased safety and stability through practical problem-solving and advocacy.

  • Improved access to learning, volunteering and employment pathways.
