At Afro Innovation Group, our commitment to community resilience and rights-based support reaches far beyond UK borders. Through our growing international programme, we are proud to work alongside partners in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to bring dignity, protection and opportunity to those facing unimaginable challenges.
One powerful example of this mission in action is the work of an incredible legal professional who has joined AIG DRC’s efforts. A rising legal advocate at a renowned law firm based in Kinshasa, she has committed her time and expertise to supporting some of the country’s most vulnerable communities.
Legal Advocacy for Victims of Violence
Over recent months, she has worked pro bono in areas devastated by militia attacks, providing urgent legal support to survivors and helping them seek justice. Her work has not gone unnoticed – her efforts were recently covered by national press in the DRC, bringing visibility to what these communities endure and the urgent need for reform and accountability.
In partnership with AIG DRC, she has been offering legal aid, documentation support and rights education to affected families, many of whom have been displaced or traumatised by violence. Her dedication reflects the heart of AIG’s mission: standing with people during their darkest moments and helping them rebuild with dignity and hope.
Fighting Child Labour Through Education
In addition to her human rights work, she is actively supporting AIG DRC’s campaign against child labour and modern slavery. In regions where militia activity, poverty and displacement have left children vulnerable to exploitation, AIG is working to return them to school and give them a chance at a better future.
This legal professional is helping us fight for the rights of these children by advocating for justice, raising awareness in the media and providing legal support to help remove children from forced labour situations. Her work is a reminder of how one voice can challenge injustice and why partnerships matter in the global fight for equity and education.
Our Work in the DRC
With operational offices in Kinshasa and future premises planned in Bukavu, Central Kasai, Bandundu, Equator, Goma and Bunia, AIG DRC is growing its capacity to deliver vital programmes across the country. These include:
Supporting women, young people and the most vulnerable
Reconnecting separated families across borders
Promoting British values and education standards abroad
Delivering training in ICT, entrepreneurship and wellbeing
Helping displaced children access shelter and school
Providing trauma recovery for survivors of violence
Supplying clean water, clothing and other essential resources
Our team is entirely community-based, led by those who live the realities of DRC every day and are building solutions from the ground up.
