We provide housing-focused casework to support people who are homeless, at risk of eviction, leaving asylum accommodation, or unable to navigate housing systems. This includes advocacy, prevention support, and structured referral routes to specialist partners.

Common issues we support with
We regularly support individuals and families facing:

Unsafe or unsuitable asylum accommodation, including safeguarding risks

Delays or failures in housing responses from statutory or contracted providers

Homelessness or risk of eviction

Move-on pressures for newly granted refugees, including short notice to leave asylum housing

Barriers accessing private tenancies, including lack of guarantors, deposits or bank accounts

Complex housing navigation, where systems are difficult to understand or engage with

Key Outcomes
Annual statistics and outcomes directly related to the delivery of our BASE+ Programme.
A total of 1,025 cases were supported from May 2024 to June 2025. From these:

371 families and 64 individuals supported into temporary accommodation

33 people supported to access private sector housing

107 people supported to settle in new homes

Case Study
An Iranian Kurdish mother and her 10-year-old son experienced sexual abuse while living in asylum accommodation. Following a referral from NHS services, AIG intervened, advocating with housing providers and relevant agencies to challenge unsafe conditions and delays. As a result of this sustained support, the family was moved into safe and suitable accommodation.
